Four Responses To Your Membership

When it comes to selling your membership, there are four responses that people can have.

Most membership leaders only anticipate two responses when selling their membership.

But there are four, and you need to have a plan to sell to all four. Doing this will accelerate the growth of your membership over and over again.

Want to know what they are?

1. YES! These are the people who take you up on your invitation to join. They’re ready and want it now.

2. No. There could be a number of reasons that people say “no.” It could be they don’t have the time, money or dedication to put into your membership. It could be that they’ve determined it’s not a right fit. They just say “no.”

3. Not right now… These people want your membership but for some reason the opportunity to join just isn’t the right time. It could be conflicting priorities, overwhelm, life circumstances or a multitude of other reasons.

4. Maybe??? These are the people who have questions and need those questions answered. It could be that they’re trying to determine if your membership is a right fit. Will it give them the outcome that they desire? Is it something they desire to be part of.

What do you do when you encounter each of those responses?

I’ve seen way too many membership leaders only go for the “Yes” and move on. They say things like “go for the easy fruit” and never bother with those who say, “No,” “Maybe,” or “Not right now.”

If you don’t have a plan to sell to all four then you’re leaving money on the table. AND you’re not helping as many people as you could with your membership.

You can turn a “no” into a “maybe” and a “maybe” into a “not right now” and “not right now” into a “YES!”

And when you do, you’ll have a member for life!

You just have to have an intentional plan.
