You might start thinking through things like: “I was able to teach on this one topic” or “I was able to deliver on this,” or “If I was invited to speak right now, I could deliver a seminar on this subject matter because I’ve been able to help others achieve it.”
What kinds of things do people actually seek you out to help guide them to do?
(I hope you’re not just reading through this. You should be writing down the answers and creating a catalog of everything you could provide for your members.)
Before I created and launched Membership Multipliers, I had leaders of other membership businesses contacting me, asking me to come in and consult with them on their membership. There I was, just growing my own membership at the time – totally focused on growing a coaching program to help pastors. We started with just 72 and grew to over 3,000 members.
When these other membership leaders noticed what I had accomplished, they said, “Hey, can I hire you for a day?” And so, they started paying me to come in and work with them on their business.
Adams Hudson was my very first client. We had just finished a two-day mastermind with Dan Kennedy (yes, Dan Kennedy was one of my mentors) and Adams said to me, “I’d like to hire you to come to my office and consult with us on our membership program.”
Adams eventually sold his business and wrote me a letter, saying, “I want you to know that during that day of consulting that I hired you for, we were able to put some things in place that enabled us to get multiple more – multiples on top of multiples – more than what we could have ever sold our business for.”
He went on to say, “I owe it to you.”
I didn’t realize in that moment that I would one day venture out to start my own membership to help coach other membership businesses. I was so focused on the membership at hand that I didn’t know there would be that opportunity… like right now, where through this book I’ve come alongside to help you.
However, I soon realized that not only had I personally grown a membership to be the largest in its niche, but I was able to help others do it as well.
