A lot of people think the what, the how, the fear, the marketing, the technology, or the fill in the blank is what is keeping them from launching their coaching offer.
What I have found is that what keeps people from launching is: Not having a strong enough reason WHY!
Does your “Why?” outweigh your excuses?
When you have a strong enough reason why, you will be determined to find the what and the how, and to negotiate every obstacle that might stand in your way.
Here are five ways to help your “Why?” outweigh your fears:
- Find a group of like-minded people who support your “Why?”
Too many times people surround themselves with other people who make them comfortable. People who don’t challenge their thinking. People who don’t call out their negative mindset, let alone people who encourage a positive mindset. - Reflect on your past achievements.
Who are the people that you’ve already helped succeed? Take out your journal and list them. Then go back and describe how you’ve been able to help them succeed. Your past achievements have prepared for this moment of helping even more. - Add “leverage.”
Impose a self inflicted “pain” that will knowingly want to avoid. For one of my goals, a friend of mine challenged me and said that if I didn’t accomplish it, he and his son were going to have target practice with my new car. And he was serious.
Did I meet my goal? You better believe it. I even exceeded it. - Add a reward.
Not only did I seek to avoid some pain, but I also had a goal of attaining some reward. One reward for me was being able to take my family on a 10 day, “first-class” trip to New York. We saw three different Broadway shows, stayed at one of the nicest hotels and ate at some of the best restuarants the city had to offer. - Set a deadline.
Great accomplishments are intentional. Share the deadline with those who are close to you. You might even share the deadline to some of those who aren’t close to you. I’ve found that sharing my goals and deadlines with those who aren’t close to me is a strong motivator. Why would I want to show up and have to tell them it didn’t happen.
You’re going to be able to launch a membership. You have the tools, and you can make it happen. Let your WHY be the motivating factor.
What is it? You don’t have to share it with me, but you’ve got to have it.
